Prioritizing And Listing Your Projects
If you have more than one project to accomplish, you will have to start the process with some advance planning. ANY project requires planning, to be sure you have the right materials and tools, and to ensure you will start at the right place. When you are tackling a larger project that includes several rooms, or a total renovation of a bathroom or a kitchen, you will have to first plan the sequence of the tasks, so that you complete each task in the right order, and thereby prepare yourself for the next task(s). If you are not currently contemplating multiple projects, you may choose to skip this section of the book for now. If and when you are ready for more projects, use this list and process to capture and prioritize your projects. Remember, that this book does not contain information on every possible project but if you can’t find your project and directions to complete it here, don’t panic! Later in this book, we will give you a list of resources to explore and you are bound to find your project listed on one of these resource sites. will you be carpeting, refinishing the floor or staining, etc. Then assign a sequence. Think carefully about what must be finished before the next task can begin. For example, if you are putting up new ceiling tiles, painting walls, etc., you will want to start with the ceiling first and finish that before you paint the walls. If you wait to do the ceiling, the freshly painted walls are likely to be damaged by the work you are doing on the ceiling. If you stage your project properly, you will have less rework and it will go faster! When you assign a sequence, remember to consider whether you are working on just one room or on more than one room. Decide in which room you will start your work, and whether you will complete every task in that room before you start another room. In general, it is best to try to do finish one room and then start another just to cut down on the disruption to your family and your life. But that is not always possible. Use this handy list to help you keep track of your projects: Project List Now that you have your list of projects and your plan for the sequence in which you will begin and complete each task, let’s move on to talk about some of the most poplar and common projects.
